We are experiencing truly unprecedented circumstances in the midst of the continuing spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). Throughout this time our responsibility has always been to our staff and guests, whose wellbeing is at the very heart of our business.

Following the Government’s ‘lockdown’ announcement we decided, along with many industry peers, to temporarily close many of our properties. This decision was particularly difficult as our teams have been invaluable since the situation surrounding COVID-19 emerged and progressed. The have worked round the clock to put guests and colleagues first, and I am exceptionally proud of their displays of integrity and professionalism, as well as their everyday acts of kindness. We have made use of the Government’s Job Retention Scheme to offer some security to our teams and will continue to offer any support that we can during the furlough period.

Like many, we are in awe of the tireless work of our frontline key workers, which is why we’re working with the NHS and local authorities to support NHS staff, other key workers and the homeless where we can during continuously changing, challenging times.

Whilst we deal with the matter at hand and the immediate impact of the current situation, our remaining team members are looking to the future, as these difficult times will pass. We are planning and preparing for the time when we can come back even stronger – opening our doors to welcome staff and guests and bringing our hotels back to life.
