Leading hoteliers sign new AC by Marriott hotel
The UK’s leading independent hotel management company, RBH, has been appointed to operate the upcoming AC by Marriott Glasgow – adding to its rapidly expanding portfolio.
Scheduled to open in 2022, the new 246-bed hotel, part of Marriott’s Signature brand portfolio, will be located on Glasgow’s George Street in sight of the city’s iconic George Square.
The agreement represents RBH’s second hotel venture with Edinburgh-based developer, Chris Stewart Group, which also owns the RBH-operated Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh City Centre.
Joining RBH’s portfolio of more than 45 branded and independent hotels across the UK, AC by Marriott Glasgow is the company’s eleventh property in Scotland – joining the likes of Hilton Aberdeen TECA, DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh City Centre, ibis Styles Glasgow Centre George Square and ibis Styles Glasgow Central.
The hotel will form part of a new mixed-use development, to be known as Love Loan, that will also see build-to-rent apartments, small-scale retail and studio space, as well as bar, restaurant and café uses being brought to the north east corner of George Square. The hotel itself will consist of a beautifully restored A listed building and a sensitive modern extension, fronting directly on to George Street.
Andrew Robb, Chief Business Development Officer at RBH, said:
“We are delighted to extend our partnership with Chris Stewart Group by working together on AC by Marriott Glasgow."
“We never fail to be impressed by the quality of CSG’s developments, and we are in no doubt that this will be an exciting addition to our growing portfolio as well as the Glasgow market.”
Managing Director, Susan Bland said:
“It is a proud moment when an existing partnership expands, and our new venture with Chris Stewart Group is testament to the efforts and past work of the wider RBH team.”
“AC by Marriott Glasgow will be among the best hotels in the city and we are thrilled to work with CSG to see its vision realised”
Chris Stewart, CEO of Chris Stewart Group, added:
“We have been working with RBH for more than five years, since opening our first Marriott in Edinburgh and are pleased to be extending that relationship to our second Marriott hotel. Not only does it mark continued growth for CSG, but it will also be the first phase of Love Loan to be delivered; an exciting and important date in the regeneration of this part of the city centre.”
