New destination dining in Aberdeen
The Aberdeen Altens Hotel has officially unveiled Coast and Keg, a new open plan dining and social space.
Work has completed on the food and beverage areas of an award-winning Aberdeen hotel following more than half a million pound investment making it not just convenient for hotel guests to refuel but also a dining destination for locals.
The Aberdeen Altens Hotel, operated by RBH – the UK’s leading independent hotel management company – has officially unveiled Coast and Keg, a new open plan dining and social space.
Designed by ICA, the existing space has been opened up to create a welcoming, spacious, flexible dining area featuring zoned casual and formal dining options, with increased capacity to welcome even more diners.
The original three dining areas have been turned into a single open space offering a modern design and an ease of flow for all guests. Taking inspiration from Aberdeen’s heritage and culture, including famous figures and topography the new interiors are stylish while seamlessly incorporating modern technology such a digital menus and self-order app.
To create Coast and Keg the designers utilised local suppliers where possible, investing in statement furniture from Protocol UK. All the artwork was commissioned to focus on local Aberdonians, who have put the city on the map including Archibald Simpson, Annie Lennox, Denis Law, Emelie Sande, Paul Lawrie.
Ian Burleigh, ICA Executive Chairman, said:
"ICA are delighted to have worked with the team at Altens to target investment in this popular hotel. The transformation of the restaurants and bar provide wonderful spaces for people to meet and spend time together in a relaxed and well-designed environment.”
To mark the restaurant opening, head chef David Proctor has curated a new menu of seasonal dishes utilising the best of local producers and suppliers. The signature dish at Coast and Keg is traditional fish and chips with local craft beer battered haddock, minted pea puree and house tartare sauce.
Kris Manship, General Manager of The Aberdeen Altens Hotel, said:
"Our new, multi-faceted dining environment really reflects the diversity of our guests and represents a major advancement in our food and beverage offering.
Everything is new from the crockery and glassware to the furniture and interiors – even the team uniforms. We’re delighted with the final result, which perfectly suits business and family visitors as well as groups of friends. We can’t wait to start welcoming our first guests.”
