RBH strengthens commitment to global charitable giving by supporting schools in Kenya with F&B partners Paddy & Scott’s
In its continued commitment to charitable giving, RBH Hospitality Management has announced a new charitable partnership with Ambition Unlocked Charitable Foundation, designed to recognise and show thanks for the communities that produce its coffee.
This collaboration is designed to actively engage RBH’s hotel food & beverage teams by encouraging them to help and directly support the communities who produce coffee for its portfolio of 50+ hotels, further extending the company’s community-focused initiatives.
Building on the management company and its hotels’ existing involvement in local schools, community projects and commitment to the Hotelier’s Charter to promote hospitality careers, in 2023 RBH launched a successful partnership with Too Good To Go, the world’s largest surplus food platform.
Since its inception, this initiative has helped prevent 13,840 meals from going to waste, avoiding more than 35 tonnes of CO2e whilst raising over £20k for the company’s nominated charity, Mental Health UK.
With the introduction of the Paddy & Scott’s partnership in Autumn 2023, RBH has already made a significant impact by funding 6,000+ school meals for children in coffee growing regions around the world through their Lunch Box coffee initiative, demonstrating the company’s commitment to supporting both local and global communities.
From this September, RBH will extend this partnership by directing all funds raised through its Too Good To Go initiative to the Ambition Unlocked Charitable Foundation. These funds will support specific projects in the Kenyan regions that grow and supply much of the coffee served in RBH hotels. The primary goal is to help complete the building of a new community hall and facilitate community education in Kenya to create a lasting and positive impact on the lives of the people who work tirelessly, often in challenging circumstances, to supply quality coffee to the UK market.
RBH Group Director of F&B, Will Macpherson, said:
“We are always seeking charitable initiatives that not only engage our teams but also resonate with them. We believe it is our responsibility to educate our employees and the communities we serve, which we can achieve by focusing on efforts that meaningfully impact both our operations and the people we work with. Through our partnership with Paddy & Scott’s, we want to highlight and help alleviate the many challenges faced by those that grow and supply the coffee we serve and enjoy daily. Put simply, our mission is to contribute towards creating a more positive and sustainable environment for them in the long term.”
Paddy & Scott’s CEO, Jon Reed said:
“We passionately believe that commerce should be a force for good so it’s wonderful to see RBH leading the way and engaging their teams to support our coffee growing community in Kenya. This commitment is such great news for the schools and such a great partnership we can all be proud of.”
